I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many talented people through Social Media and many of them have been such amazing artists who also have hearts of gold.  Tyrell Witherspoon is one of those artists.  His music is always uplifting with catchy beats that you can’t help but move to.  I am always happy to hear from him and thrilled when he has new music for me to share with you all.  Please check out the official press release for his latest single, “Go Round” and be sure to download it for free. I think it will make a great addition to your music collection, I’m sure I will be working out to it now too!

If there is one thing Tyrell Witherspoon learned through 2013, it was the art of of perseverance. To say the year was a struggle and an obstacle would be an understatement but through all of his adversities, he still managed to keep his head above water and stay afloat with the help of one of his favourite hobbies: music.

Early in the year, Tyrell split with his fiancé and found himself in Calgary working for a theatre company. Near the end of the production, Tyrell received a devastating phone call that his younger brother, Graeme, had been killed in a head-on collision in Manitoba. Leaving the show behind, Tyrell quickly flew home to be with his family. Over the summer, Tyrell landed himself a career highlight, performing in the Charlottetown Festival in PEI. After this, he moved to Toronto to only have his Grandfather die of a heart attack a week after arriving. Flying home once more, he asked himself what he was to do. Instead of falling into a deep depression, he found solitude and comfort in his music.

“It’s been a tough year,” Tyrell recalls as he looks back on the past twelve months, “but I have definitely learned a lot about myself and grown as a person and as an artist. When you’re faced with these challenges in your life, you can make two choices. You can let it overtake you and spin out of control or, you can face things head on and move forward as best you can. I chose the latter. It’s definitely tough, but when you have a great support system around you, it makes it easier to overcome the obstacles afterwards.”

Tyrell returned to the piano and started working on his latest track, “Go ‘Round”, a song that would turn out to be an anthem of appreciation of his summer on the gentle isle.

“Prince Edward Island is so beautiful. I understand why so many artists and great music comes from that place. There is something magically inspiring about it’s red sand beaches, beautiful water and rolling green hills.”

Tyrell explains that the song narrates one summer night he had on the island at a friends cabin. The late night party included a midnight swim and fireworks on the beach. “In that moment, I felt like I was living this fantasy life that you only watch on movies and that my world was spinning around me. That in turn became the lyrics to this song.”

To celebrate the release of the track, Tyrell decided to offer the song as a free download versus an official iTunes release. “Because of the nature of the way this song came about, I thought this would be one my ways to thank everyone for their support with my brother’s accident and my grandfather’s passing.”

Kat Graham Gives Us the ‘Power’ to Have a Slammin’ Summer

Kat Graham is truly a multi-talented artist who shares her gifts freely with her fans.  She gives us the gift of her character, Bonnie, on The Vampire Diaries every week with such emotion, as she deals with the various situations she is drawn into by the inhabitants of Mystic Falls.   She also gives us the added gift of her music with songs like ‘Put Your Graffiti on me,’ ‘Wanna Say,’  and ‘Heartkiller,’ with her latest ‘Power’ (which was released this week) already  creating lots of buzz.

‘Power’ is a mix of emotions, energy, and inspiration.  Just in time for Summer, it also supplies a beat that will keep you dancing and not caring about the heat. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what artistic twists and turns Kat takes for the video since I am usually impressed with her creative vision.  The song is such an anthem for self empowerment and a reminder that we should not only surround ourselves with people who are good to us and for us; but also take care to  be good to ourselves at all times.

Don’t be left out, head over to to experience ‘Power’ for yourself and be sure to catch up with all the Vampire Diaries fun this summer if you missed any of last season so you are prepared for Season 5 this fall! Let’s hope the video will be premiering very soon as well!

For now, we can enjoy the lyric video while we wait:

Kevin Gerdes is Calling 4 U

Music is something that can affect your mood, complement it, and even change it.  Music can be different things for different people and it can be a different tool for the artists as well.  Some people get into music because they want to express something that has always been inside of them that just needs to get out.  It is as necessary and natural for them as breathing.  In the case of Kevin Gerdes, this is someone who is in the business because he needs to be.  If you listen to him sing, you can hear the passion for music and entertaining. On his website, I found this:  ”I perform + You enjoy = A common ground” and I think it is a perfect saying for Kevin.  His new single, “Calling 4 U” is a true testament of his love for what he does.  Besides being a soulful singer, Kevin is also an amazing actor.  I am sure we will be seeing and hearing lots from him for years to come.  Right now, he is getting ready to drop some mighty fine music on us.

I was so excited to be able to interview Kevin again about his new single and look forward to a full album from him soon.  I hope this will be one of many new pieces on about him, I always enjoy our exchanges even when they are just a quick email, phone call, or text.  I am especially proud when I can share some of it with you all as well.

Q: What’s the name of the song?  What’s it about?

A: ”Calling 4 U”. Diving deeper into the lyrics of the song, its about someone who remembers a lover in his past. He’s almost pleading for this person to remember the past they once had together. In one part of the song he says “… we can believe in the love…”, that was very personal to me. I am a believer in love and all that it encompasses. That line practically describes what “Calling 4 U” is all about. Believing that love you have for someone never truly diminishes. Its always there. Sometimes you realize that you needed a period of rest. And when you’re ready, you find out, that love never died and it can come back stronger then ever before.

Q: Do you have a release date?

A: ”Calling 4 U” is expected be released this Spring 2013.

Q: Did you write “Calling 4 U”?

A: Actually YES! Initially the song was developed from a series of poems that I have written over the years. All of the poems were derived from past relationships that I have been in. I find it interesting how people tend to never leave your heart after investing so much time and energy into them and what they offer.

From there, three writers Mark Grilliot, Randy Wade Kelley, and myself, sat in a studio and wrote amazing lyrics against a dance beat (produced but Mark Grilliot).
Like I said, the song was written based off of a few different poems that I had stored away in my computer. I was VERY hesitant to show them these secrets that I held inside. However, I can remember hearing myself saying, “If I allow myself to get vulnerable, in this process, I will have an amazing product in the end” and that is just what happened.
As hard as it was, I went into my computer and emailed the two of them what I had to offer. And the rest is history!
Q: Any plans for a full album?
A: Oh yes! This song as my previous singles will all be included. Be on the look out for this. As I’ve stated in past interviews with you, if you want to be closely updated on my single and albums, visit my website at, follow me on twitter @kevingerdes and my Facebook page,
