Your 2017 Oscars Nominees

I don’t know about you, but I am super excited that it’s Oscars time again! I’m so happy to be back in LA for it, and thrilled to have been a part of CTV’s ETalk Oscars week! There are so many Canadian actors and talent nominated this year and they truly have some amazing content to share.

Their coverage of the red carpet tonight will be epic. Ben Mulroney is the most gracious, knowledgable person in the business and may I add, he’ll be looking quite sharp out there! I am already missing my new Canadian family but looking forward to my next CTV adventure.

I figured I’d compile a list of our nominees so in case you haven’t seen them already or you just want to use it to follow along tonight, we have it! Feel free to let me know your thoughts and predictions. Also, you can follow me on twitter @teeco71 and also follow @etalkCTV for all the red carpet fun!

Dance with Me USA!!

EAV_BLOG_VER:6bbb2d3b462fa090 On Sunday evening, June 5th I was proud to attend an event for Dance with Me USA, a dance school founded by Sasha and Maksim Chmerkovskiy along with Jhanna Volynets.  I originally went to see Kirstie Alley perform with Maks since I had enjoyed them so much on Dancing with the Stars but I got so much more out of it.  Seeing Kirstie perform in person was an absolute honor.  She gives 100% of herself and lights up any room she is in.  I have always known she had a wonderful spirit but to be in her presence just affirms that times 1000.

The added bonus was to see the students perform.  I was touched by their dedication, floored by their talent, and intoxicated by their passion for the dance.  Every dancer, no matter how young, was full of enthusiasm for what they were doing.  The energy in the room was something to feel and very contagious.  The school itself is obviously a very important institution to the instructors, students, and the community.

The whole event got me thinking about how much young children can benefit from dance. It is physically challenging, so it keeps you healthy.  Dance can improve your confidence, help you to develop social skills, and can be quite fun! In the United States, we have been struggling with keeping our children and young adults active.  Schools are cutting back on programs due to funding which most times hurts our physical education and music programs.  Maybe we should seriously consider adding dance to our childrens’ curriculum? Read more after the jump.
